Mary Routh Woodyear Gallent

BATON ROUGE, La. — Mary Routh Woodyear Gallent of Baton Rouge passed away Jan. 19, 2017, following a brief illness.
A native of Mound, La., she was a retired marketing specialist with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. Born on July 24, 1946, she was a graduate of Tallulah High School and Louisiana State University, where she was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity. At her death, she was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her children, Donald Neal “Chip” Gallent and wife Suzanne of Franklin, Tenn., and David Carneal Gallent and wife Jennifer of New Orleans; grandsons, Tommy and Dylan; a sister, Dorothy Anne Woodyear Millikin; a sister-in-law, Mary Acosta Woodyear; a brother-in-law, Leonard Paul “Pop” Neumann; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Carneal “Blue” Woodyear Sr. and Dorothy Maxwell Woodyear; a brother, Edgar Carneal Woodyear Jr.; sisters, Susan Woodyear Ingram and Emily Woodyear Neumann; and brothers-in-law, Michael Sedgwick Ingram and Jack Hightower Millikin.
Following cremation, she will be interred at a later date in Silver Cross Cemetery, Tallulah, La. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge, Trinity Episcopal Church in Tallulah or a charity of your choosing.
