Madinah Muhammad scored a game-high 22 points, three other Rebels finished in double figures, and the Ole Miss women’s basketball team finally got a win on the road by beating Florida 84-75 Monday night.

Ole Miss (15-8, 4-6 Southeastern Conference) snapped a 13-game road losing streak against SEC opponents. It was also the team’s first road win of any kind this season.

Shandricka Sessom finished with 18 points and seven rebounds for the Rebels, while Shelby Gibson scored 16 points and Alissa Alston had 13 points and six assists in 30 minutes off the bench.

Ole Miss went 5-for-5 from the free throw line in the last 2:06 to seal the win after Florida (11-12, 2-8) had gotten within five points.

Ole Miss went 8-for-9 from the field in the fourth quarter and shot 45.6 percent for the game. It was 22-for-25 from the foul line in the game.

“They shot the ball exceptionally well, but we did a poor job of defending dribble penetration which left someone open, whether it was inside or out,” Florida coach Amanda Butler said. “We overreacted to dribble penetration. We did a lot of things poorly, and that’s on me. We just must not have prepared very well. I felt that we did, but clearly the result does not demonstrate that.”

Ronni Williams led Florida with 21 points. Haley Lorenzen and Delicia Washington scored 14 apiece.
