Harper is accused of shooting the other teen in the abdomen during a fight that occurred about 2 p.m. Saturday. Armstrong said the shooting victim was in good condition at Merit Health River Region.

He said the shooting was the result of an ongoing argument between Harper, the victim, and the victim’s mother over some items the mother claimed Harper stole from her home.

Saturday, the woman confronted Harper about the thefts, and an argument followed. When the teen went to assist his mother, he got into a fight with Harper, who pulled a gun and shot him. He was taken by private vehicle to River Region.

Harper was brought to the Vicksburg Police Department by his mother about 10 p.m. Saturday, and taken to the Madison County Jail, where he was held until his initial appearance Monday in Municipal Court before Judge Toni Terrett.
