William D. Smith Sr. died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at Merit Health River Region. He was 78.

A lifelong resident of Warren County, he retired from Anderson-Tully Lumber Co. after 30 years of service. He later owned and operated Smitty’s Furniture in Vicksburg for 15 years. He attended Wayside Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Agnes Powell Smith; his wife, Anna Louise Smith; his daughter, Jessie Catherine Smith; and two sons, Otis Riley Smith and Richard Earl Smith Sr.

Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Irwin of Vicksburg; three sons, H. Lee Williams and William D. Smith Jr., both of Vicksburg, and Daniel Keith Gregory of Raleigh; his brother, Richard Powell of Greenwood; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Keith Caton, Andrew Guzman, Travis Smith, Christian Truelove, Jeffrey Chambers, Justin Harris and Chuck Webster.

Glenwood Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
