Louisiana suspect found in Vicksburg

A man wanted for a probation violation from the state of Louisiana, who also had a warrant pending from U.S. Probation and Pre-Trial Services for a federal firearms violation, was apprehended Tuesday in Vicksburg at an apartment on Fisher Ferry Road.

Johnny Lee Thompson, 34, of Vicksburg was taken into custody at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday after an operation by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and Mississippi Highway Patrol SWAT teams.

MBN agents also had a warrant to search for narcotics, and found them.

Thompson has been charged in Warren County for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, sale of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Thompson also has a warrant for probation violation from the Louisiana Department of Corrections.

In addition, U.S. Probation and Pre-Trial Services has a detainer placed on Thompson pending an arrest warrant.

Also arrested was Jason Kyle Skinner, 26, of Vicksburg. Skinner has been charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Agents seized a small quantity of drugs, drug paraphernalia and a semi-automatic handgun.

The arrests are the culmination of a three-month investigation by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.

Warren County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted the MBN by securing the outer perimeter of the scene during the MBN-MHP SWAT operation. The Vicksburg Police Department also assisted.
