Vicksburg police have arrested three more teenagers in the Feb. 21 drive-by shooting of a 16-year-old boy in the ankle at the intersection of Bowmar Avenue and Drummond Street, Capt. Sandra Williams said.

Brothers DeAnthony Smith, 19, and Jacquez Smith, 18, and Deldrick Harper, 19, the brother of Lamerien Haper, who is accused in the shooting, were arrested Friday. Deldrick Harper was arrested Monday.

The Smith brothers, who Williams said were passengers in the car during the shooting, are each charged with two counts of aggravated assault and two counts drive-by shooting.

Harper is charged with possession of a stolen firearm and accessory after the fact to aggravated assault for helping his brother after the shooting. He is accused of attempting to hide the .40-caliber Glock handgun Lamerian Harper is believed to have used in the shooting. The gun was reported stolen in a burglary in Vicksburg.

Williams said Harper was arrested during a traffic stop by police officer Otis Stamps after he saw a handgun lying on the seat in the car.

The Smith brothers are being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond each; Deldrick Harper is being held in the county jail in lieu of $20,000 bond. His brother remains in jail without bond. Darian Turner, who is also charged in the shooting, is being held in lieu of $75,000 bond.

The shooting occurred about 4 p.m. Feb. 21 as the teen and a friend were walking at the intersection of Bowmar and Drummond.

The wounded teen was taken to Merit Health River Region and later transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center. His companion was not wounded.

At the time of the shooting, Lamarien Harper was out on $25,000 bond on an aggravated assault that occurred Feb. 11, when he shot another 16-year-old during a fight that resulted from an argument between Harper and the victim’s mother over items she claimed Harper stole from her house.

During the fight with the other teen, Harper pulled a gun and shot him in the abdomen. Police do not know if the gun recovered at the traffic stop was also used in the first shooting.

At his initial appearance for the drive-by shooting, Municipal Judge Toni Terrett granted a motion from Warren County District Attorney Ricky Smith revoking Harper’s bond on the first shooting and ordering him held without bond.
