A Warren County woman accused of stabbing a man to death on Nov. 18, 2013, has been convicted in Warren County Circuit Court of manslaughter.

Latoya Nicole Brisco was convicted by a jury Feb. 24. She was indicted by a grand jury in September 2014 in the death of 50-year-old Carl Whitaker at a home in the China Grove community.

When deputies and paramedics arrived at the home at 114 Freedom Lane, they found Whitaker on the floor suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was not breathing and had no pulse when investigators arrived, authorities said.

Initially, no one was charged in the killing but after the investigation was complete the results were turned over to the District Attorney’s Office who presented them to the grand jury.

4 Anthony James Lewis, 25, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with one year and one day to serve and the balance suspended with five years’ post-release supervision after pleading guilty in Circuit Court to possession of a weapon after felony conviction. He was also ordered to pay $1,384.50 in fines, court costs and fees.

4 Larry Keith Johnson, 23, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with one to serve at a Mississippi Department of Corrections restitution center either in Hinds, LeFlore or Jackson County with the balance of his sentence suspended and five years’ post-release supervision after pleading guilty in Circuit Court to embezzlement.

He was also ordered to pay restitution, fines, court costs and fees totaling $6,684.50.

4 Judge M. James Chaney revoked the post-release supervision for Airrion Galloway and sentenced him to 30 days in technical violation center and then to an MDOC restitution center where he will remain until he has paid in full $5,575 in fines, fees and court costs.

According to court records, Galloway violated the terms of the post-release by failing to report to his parole officer as directed and not paying the court-ordered fines, fees and costs.

4 Bradley Garcia was sentenced to six months in jail suspended for two years upon a condition of six-months of good behavior, and ordered to pay $5,460.75 on fines, court costs, fees and restitution after pleading guilty in Circuit Court to simple assault.
