Shooting suspect gets suspended sentence

A Vicksburg man received a suspended sentence and probation after pleading guilty in Warren County Circuit Court to shooting at a motor vehicle.

Circuit Judge M. James Chaney sentenced Teremiah Shaquille Cox, 22, to five years in prison with five years suspended upon completing a 60-month post-release supervision and ordered to pay $2,884.50 in fine, court costs and fees.

Cox was arrested in July 2015 of shooting into a vehicle on Mission 66 after arguing with two men in the vehicle. The vehicle was struck at least three times by bullets from a large caliber weapon, but no one was wounded.

4 Craig Laman Robinson, 44, was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty in Circuit Court to three counts of uttering forgery.

He was sentenced to five years on each count with two years suspended and three to serve, and two years’ post-release supervision. The three, three-year sentences will be served concurrently, or at the same time.

He was also ordered to pay $3,156.88 in fine, court costs and fees at a rate of not less than $60 a month after his release.

4 Sylvester Jones, 32, was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of a weapon after felony conviction.

He was sentenced to eight years with two years to serve and five years’ supervised probation. He was also ordered to pay $1,884.50 in fine, court costs and fees. The state agreed not to prosecute a charge of possession of a controlled substance as part of a plea agreement.

4 Larry Terrell Woods, 22, was placed on 36 months’ supervised probation after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit a felony. He was ordered to pay $1,548.50 in fine, court costs and fees.
