JACKSON — Revenues at Mississippi’s casinos might have been down 10 percent in February compared to the same month in 2016, but revenues posted in February were the largest amount posted since last October.

In February, casinos along the Mississippi Gulf Coast and along the Mississippi River reported combined revenue of $171,855,674.57. But, it was the river casinos — including those in Vicksburg — who carried the increase.

In January, river casinos brought in nearly $67 million. In February, those same casinos saw a significant increase, brining in nearly $77 million. The casinos along the cost saw a decrease of nearly $4 million decline between January and February.

As for the coastal casinos, the 12 coastal casinos posted revenue of $95 million, down 9 percent from $105 million in February 2016. It was the second-sharpest monthly revenue drop in four years on the Gulf Coast, a period when revenues have generally risen.

Receipts tumbled more than 10 percent at the 16 river casinos, to $77 million in February compared to $86 million a year ago.

The reported river casinos includes Ameristar, Riverwalk, Lady Luck and Waterview casinos in Vicksburg.

The combined $171.8 million brought by the casinos was the highest amount brought in since the groups combined to bring in $173.6 million in October 2016.

Numbers exclude Choctaw Indian casinos, which don’t report winnings to the state.

During 2016, the coastal casinos averaged $98.96 million monthly, while the river casinos averaged $77.7 million.
