The Vicksburg Warren School District is looking to hire a minimum of 20 additional bus drives.

Drivers must have a commercial drivers license with a passenger school bus endorsement. The Vicksburg Warren School District will provide the necessary training through a bus school, but drivers are responsible for obtaining their own CDL according to Cerissa Neal.

Drivers will be paid between $11.50 and $16.75 per hour depending on experience and have the flexibility to decide the number of hours they work depending on the number of routes they agree to drive.

Neal said the hiring of 20 additional drivers will enable the district to best serve its students by helping to meet their goal of having between 105 and 115 available bus drivers.

To be eligible to apply, you must at least 18 years of age and pass a background check. Once hired, drivers are required to attend and pass a biannual bus drivers training course.

Neal said that the preference is for those interested to apply in person at the district’s transportation office so they can meet with a supervisor face-to-face.
