James W. Edwards died Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Promise Hospital in Vicksburg.  He was 87. 

Born Jan. 16, 1930 in Louisville, he was the son of the late James Clinton Edwards and Mittie Gregory Edwards. 

He was a retired carpenter and was an avid gardener, sharing his many vegetables with his friends.  He was a member of the Apostolic Church of Vicksburg since 1986.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Edwards; four children, William Edwards, Andrew Edwards (Brittney), Angel Edwards and Janie Pope (Gene); one brother, J. C. Edwards (Helen); eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Linda Lackey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six children, Deborah Worline, Michael, Jerry, Lisa, Clayton, and Daniel Paul Edwards; one brother, Rev. Bobby Edwards; two sisters, Becky Barnes and Wardean Nevels.

Services will be at the Apostolic Church of Vicksburg Wednesday, April 12, at 10 a.m. with Pastor John Parks officiating. 

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church. 

Interment will be in Green Lawn Gardens Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Jackson, Cody Parks, Millard Parks, Toby Parks, Nick Cloy and Clint Edwards.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Emfinger, Wayne Sidebottom, Jimmy Teague and the men of the church.

Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Church of Vicksburg, 2750 Highway 27.
