Hilda Faye Hearn Powell

Hilda Faye Hearn Powell, a lifelong resident of Vicksburg, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Merit Health-River Region.  She was 70. 

She was a retired employee of Redwood Elementary School, and a lifelong member of Bradley’s Chapel United Methodist Church.  She was a member of the Ladies Purple Heart Auxiliary. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie Hilda Acord Hooks and Thomas Nelson Hooks; her husband, George M. Hearn; one son, Timothy Wayne Hearn; one daughter, Melissa Ann “Leisa” Collins; her second husband, Thomas Powell; one grandson, Michael Collins; and two brothers, Thomas Ray Hooks and Gary Wendell Hooks.

Survivors include two sons, Nelson Excell Hearn (Tammy) of Vicksburg and Jacob Powell of Brandon; four grandchildren, Amy Hearn Hayes, Tyler Hearn, Zachary Hearn and Kayla Hedrick; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Glenda Willoughby (Jim) of Chattanooga, Tenn. and  Barbara Hearn (Doug) of Vicksburg; and one brother, Doug Hooks (Judy) of Vicksburg. 

Services will be noon Thursday, April 13 at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. George Butler officiating. 

Burial will follow at Bradley’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and Thursday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. 

Pallbearers will be Glen Worthy, Kelly Worthy, William Hearn, James Wiltcher, Dean Hearn, Jerry Davidson, Stan Collins and Tony Worthy. 

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Bradley’s Chapel United Methodist Church and Dr. Paul W. Pierce III. 

Memorials may be made to Bradley’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 11031 Oak Ridge Road, in Vicksburg.
