Charles R. Harris

Charles R. Harris of Vicksburg died Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Merit Health River Region following a brief illness.  He was 73. 

He was born Sep. 12, 1943, to Alfred S. Harris and Velma Ruth Sheppeard Harris.

He was a graduate of Jett High School and served in the United States Army in Vietnam. He retired from R. G. Letourneau and the Corps of Engineers, Mat Sinking Unit.  He was a member of the BPOE No. 95 and was an avid fisherman.

He was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Annette Fortner Harris; three sons, Keith Harris of San Francisco, Kenneth Harris (Phillip) Washington and Steven Harris (Melissa) of Brandon; a sister, Nancy Malone (Elma); and two brothers, Donnie Harris (Gwen) and Dennis Harris (Donna).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Harris.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Abel, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, officiating. 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the hour of the service. 

Burial will be in the Yokena Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church in his memory.

Pallbearers will be Bill Kelly, Derrick Malone, Darren Malone, Landon Fields, Jimmie Crow and Kevin Crow.
