Charles is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and will have his initial court appearance Friday, April 14. According to Armstrong, it appears the weapon used was a small caliber handgun and the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

“The victim was talking at the scene and in the ambulance,” Armstrong said, adding Kevin was transported to University Medical Center in Jackson.

Armstrong confirmed Kevin had surgery and was recovering Thursday afternoon, but his condition and longterm outlook were unknown.

The investigation is ongoing and investigators are working to determine what lead to the argument.
