Butler Camp registration

Registration for the third annual Malcolm Butler Football Camp is now open and will continue through May 1.
The camp is for boys in grades 1-12, and will be held July 15 at Memorial Stadium. The camp is free, but participation is limited and early registration is encouraged. Registration is available online only, at malcolmbutlerfootballcamp.org.

The camp will include instruction from New England Patriots cornerback and former Vicksburg High star Malcolm Butler and the Vicksburg High School football coaching staff.

WC soccer tryouts

Tryouts for Warren Central’s boys soccer team will be held May 8 and 9, on the front field adjacent to Mississippi 27, at 4 p.m. each day. The tryouts are open to players in grades 7-12.

All participants must have a current physical, a parental consent form, and shinguards. All participants must also sign up at the front soccer field on May 5 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. to get the necessary paperwork. For more information, call coach Greg Head at 601-631-1257.

Learn to Swim registration

Registration for the 2017 American Red Cross Learn to Swim program will be held at City Pool, May 17-19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and May 20 from 10 a.m. until noon.

The program is for all ages, from 3 years old to adults, and the cost is $12 per student per two-week session. The sessions will run from June 5-16, June 26-July 8, and July 17-28, and the times of each class vary by age. Classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis and early registration is encouraged.

Registration must be made in person. Payment can be made with either cash or check made payable to the City of Vicksburg. All payments are due at the time of registration. For more information, call City Pool at 601-634-4516.

Paws Rescue golf tourney
Paws Rescue’s “Golf 4 Paws” charity golf tournament will be held April 21 at 9 a.m. Clear Creek Golf Course in Bovina. The tournament is a four-person scramble, and the entry fee is $70 per person or $280 per team.
All proceeds go toward rescue expenses for the animals in the care of Paws Rescue. Donations of cash, cat food and dog food are welcome at the tournament.

Bubba Mims golf tourney

Porters Chapel Academy will host the 13th annual Bubba Mims Memorial Golf Classic April 26 at Vicksburg Country Club. The event is a four-man scramble and will begin with at 1 p.m.
