Funeral services for Herman “Bear” McNeil will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Pleasant Valley M.B. Church. Interment will follow Monday at the National Cemetery in Natchez under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home, and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
Mr. McNeil died April 14, 2017, after a brief illness. He was 68.
A 1969 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School, he also attended Jackson State University. He was an Iraq War veteran, having served in Operation Desert Storm.
He was preceded in death by both parents, Elijah Lacey and Amanda McNeil; three brothers, Elijah McNeil, Richard McNeil, Sr. and Fred Branch; and three sisters, Alice Lacey, Ivora Daniels and Tennie Lodge.

Survivors include one son, Herman DeVal McNeil; two daughters, LaShanya McNeil Washington and Carla Stewart Forte; two brothers, Frank Jones, and Slyvester Lacy, both of Vicksburg; four sisters, Mary Lindsey, Elizabeth McNeil, Deloris Gooden and Dorothy Brewer, all of Vicksburg; and six grandchildren.
