Unlucky squirrel blamed for power outage

Published 2:05 pm Friday, April 21, 2017

A squirrel managed to get into an Entergy substation in Bovina late Friday morning, damaging two circuits and knocking out power to 1,231 customers in the area, including Bovina Elementary School, Entergy customer representative Shelia McKinnis said.

She said Entergy officials have not determined the amount of damage to the substation. Power has been restored, she said.

Vicksburg Warren School District communications director Christi Kilroy said Bovina Elementary was dismissed at 2 p.m. because of the power outage, and parents were allowed to pick up their children early.
