Five new principals approved

The Vicksburg-Warren School District school board approved the hiring of five new principals effective July 1 during their Thursday meeting.

Three of those hired were internal candidates promoted to new positions, while two were hired externally.

Katrina Hills was promoted from her position as assistant principal at Vicksburg Intermediate Schools to principal at Vicksburg Junior High. Tamkea Johnson was promoted from her position as assistant principal at Vicksburg High School to principal at Sherman Avenue Elementary. LaShanda Smith was promoted from assistant principal to principal at Dana Road Elementary.

Angela Johnson, who serves as the superintendent for the Hollandale School District, will be the new principal at Vicksburg High School.

LaToya Minor, who is from Vicksburg and has worked in the VWSD, is returning to become the new principal at South Park Elementary.
