Gator Bait Triathlon

Registration is now open for the 2017 Gator Bait at Eagle Lake Endurance Challenge. The race is scheduled for May 13 at Eagle Lake and features an Olympic distance and sprint triathlon. The Olympic distance triathlon includes a 1.5-kilometer swim, 40-kilometer bike ride and 10K run. The sprint triathlon is a 1/3-mile swim, 14-mile bike and 5K (3.1-mile) run.

There is also a two- or three-person Olympic distance relay division and open water swim events.

All participants must be registered with USA Triathlon. One-day registrations are available for $12. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m., and there is a mandatory pre-race meeting at 8:15. Registration is capped at 250 participants and the deadline to enter is May 10. There is no race day registration. For more information or to register online, visit vsaswim.org

Tomahawk Tromp at Tara

The fourth annual Tomahawk Tromp will be held at Tara Wildlife on May 13, beginning at 8 a.m. The 5K off-road trail run is an adventure race that includes stations where participants must perform various outdoor activities such as rifle shooting; throwing spears, tomahawks and knives; archery; swimming; and various obstacles.

The registration fee is $30 for adults and $20 for children ages 10-17.There is no registration fee for children age 9 and under. Online registration is available at tarawildlife.com.

Clear Creek Ladies report

On Wednesday, Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association members enjoyed a round of individual play. The Flight A winner was Linda McHann. Joyce Johnson won Flight B, while Emily Bonelli won Flight C. McHann logged the lowest putting score.

WC basketball tryouts

Tryouts for Warren Central’s boys basketball team will be held May 15-19 in Gym A, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. each day. All participants must have a current physical and parental consent form. For more information, email coach Bruce Robinson at brobinson@vwsd.org

WC soccer tryouts

Tryouts for Warren Central’s boys soccer team will be held May 8 and 9, on the front field adjacent to Mississippi 27, at 4 p.m. each day. The tryouts are open to players in grades 7-12.

Tryouts for the girls’ team will be held May 10 and 11, from 4 to 6 p.m., on the front field.

All participants must have a current physical, a parental consent form, residency form and concussion form, and must wear shinguards. All participants for the boys tryouts must also sign up at the front soccer field on May 5 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. to get the necessary paperwork. Paperwork for girls’ players can be picked up from coaches Jay Madison or Amber Davis, or in Room 202 at Warren Central High School.
