No arrests yet in Monday shooting

A Vicksburg man was wounded early Monday morning when he was shot in the face during an incident in the area of Ken Karyl and Military avenues, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

The shooting occurred about 4:35 a.m. The victim, who was not identified, was taken to Merit Health River Region and later transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center. His condition was not available.

Williams said officers responding to the shooting call found the location of the incident, but no arrests have been made, and the shooting remains under investigation.

In another case, officers were called to a home in the 3200 block of Commons Circle after receiving a call that a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted. No arrests have been made in the case, which remains under investigation.

Warrant issued in Sunday stabbing

A warrant has been issued for a Warren County man charging him with aggravated assault in the stabbing of his daughter’s boyfriend Sunday night, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

The suspect’s name was not released pending his arrest.

According to sheriff’s department reports, the stabbing occurred after 10 p.m. Sunday, when the man and his daughter got into an argument at his home in the 4200 block of Gibson Road.

During the argument, the daughter’s boyfriend, Levi Branch III, 24, attempted to intervene in the argument and the man stabbed him five times in the chest, stomach and back. He was taken to Merit Health River Region, where he was treated and released, Pace said.

The daughter, 19, who was not identified, was also injured in the melee. The man left the scene before deputies arrived, he said. The incident remains under investigation.
