Strickland honored by Mississippi Business Journal

JACKSON — The Mississippi Business Journal honored its 2017 class of Top 50 Under 40 Thursday at the Old Capital Inn.

The Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Laura Beth Strickland was among those honored.

Strickland was named for her performance at the visitor’s bureau, as well as her involvement in the community. Strickland has been a part of large projects at the VCVB including rebranding, redesigning a new responsive website and updating image videos.

“We have worked hard to bring Vicksburg to the forefront of the tourism industry in Mississippi and are pleased that our market continues to grow year after year,” Strickland said. “Being recognized for my part in that is a true honor.”

Strickland has served on boards for Junior Auxiliary, Public Relations Association of Mississippi, Mississippi Tourism Association and the Mississippi Delta Tourism Association.

She is a certified social media strategist and has graduated from the Southeast Tourism Society tourism marketing professional and festival and events planning program. Strickland was named to The Vicksburg Post’s Top 20 Under 40 in 2011 and was the 2016 Mississippi Tourism Association Member of the Year. She is also an ambassador of the Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce was named as an Ambassador of the Quarter in 2013.

Strickland has been with the bureau since 2009 and was promoted to Deputy Director in January 2017. She and her husband, Michael, welcomed a daughter in January.
