Gator Golf Classic

The Second Annual Gator Golf Classic is scheduled for June 14 at Clear Creek Golf Course. The tournament is a benefit for the Vicksburg High School baseball and golf programs.

The two-man scramble will begin at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $150 per team, or $75 for an individual. Hole sponsorships are available as well, for $100, $225 and $500. The winning team will receive 2 YETI coolers. There are also prizes for the top three finishers in each flight, for the longest drive and closest to the pin.

Kings basketball weekend

The Kings Empowerment Center will host the “Basketballers’ Weekend” May 19-21. The event starts with a 3-point shootout on May 19 at 6:30 p.m., and continues with an adult basketball tournament May 20 beginning at 10 a.m.

The entry fee for the 3-point contest is $3 per person, and the winner will receive a trophy. Admission is free for spectators.

The tournament is for teams with players ages 19-and-up, and the entry fee is $125 per team. Doors open at 9:30 a.m., and admission for fans is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 18.

There will also be a 3-on-3, single elimination tournament on May 21 with three age divisions — fifth through eighth grad, ninth through 12th, and ages 19-and-up. The entry fee for this tournament is $15 per team. Doors open at 3:30 p.m., games start at 4 p.m., and admission is free.

Alcorn basketball camp

The Vicksburg YMCA will host the Montez Robinson Basketball Fundamental Skills Clinic June 3, from 8 a.m. to noon. The clinic will be led by Alcorn State men’s basketball coach Montez Robinson.

The camp costs $35 per person, and will feature developmental drills and one-on-one instruction. Campers must have proper athletic attire and basketball shoes.

Jackson Street Camp

Registration for the Jackson Street Summer Camp is now open and will continue until June 3. The camp is for children ages 6-10, and is free. Registration forms are available at the Jackson Street gym and the Parks and Recreation Department offices at 100 Army Navy Drive, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Learn to Swim registration

Registration for the 2017 American Red Cross Learn to Swim program will be held at City Pool, May 17-19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and May 20 from 10 a.m. until noon.

The program is for all ages, from 3 years old to adults, and the cost is $12 per student per two-week session. The sessions will run from June 5-16, June 26-July 8, July 17-28, and the times of each class vary by age. Classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis and early registration is encouraged.

Registration must be made in person. All payments are due at the time of registration.

Play 2 Wynn camp

The 15th annual Play 2 Wynn Basketball Camp will be held June 19-23 at Vicksburg Junior High School, from 9 a.m. to noon each day.

The camp is open to boys and girls ages ages 6-16. The cost is $35 per day, or $100 for the week. The camp teaches basketball fundamentals and skills. For more information, email Donna Brown-Wynn at dbrownwynn@gmail.com.
