The Warren County Board of Supervisors received bids for paving and stripping projects in the county at their meeting Monday.

The board accepted a bid of $131,787.41 from Traffic Control Products Inc. to stripe 24.46 miles of road in the county. The board rejected a bid of $138,184.96 from Lane Line for the striping project.

They also accepted a bid of $700,206.19 from Central Asphalt to repave portions of three roads in the county. The board rejected a high bid of $711,046.25 from APAC of Mississippi for the same project.

“They’ll get a notice to proceed and when they choose to proceed that is up to them,” board president Richard George said. “They can burn up some contract time without even starting, but once they get a notice to proceed their time starts to calculate.”

George said that the companies should receive the notice to proceed in about 10 days.

“They’ve got 90 calendar days to do the paving and there’s 30 calendar days for the striping project,” George said. “Once they get the notice to proceed, they need to get busy.”

If the companies do not meet their deadlines, George said they would face a per-day fine until the project is completed.

The striping project will include work on Blossom Lane, Bovina Drive, China Grove Road, Culkin Road, Gibson Road, Hankinson Road, Jeff Davis Road, Redbone Road, Scott Road and Standard Hill Road,

The paving project will include new asphalt on Nailor and Redwood roads and DBST paving on Flowere Road.

“On Nailor Road, we’ve done two parts of it already,” George said. “The third part, that is the last part to do and we will be finished with that road. Redwood has a good bit of it already done as well, and Floweree has a portion of it that’s done already.”

George said that the worst parts of Floweree Road would be repaved during this current project.
