George Reginald Meekins Sr. passed away Tuesday, May 16, in Atlanta, following a lengthy illness.  He was 70.

He was a Vietnam veteran and was a member of the Mount Ararat M.B. Church. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Alvin and Nicie Flowers Meekins Sr.; his brother, Charles Alvin Meekins Jr.; and his sisters, Alva Meekins Meeks, Charlotte Meekins Smith and Alberta Meekins.

He is survived by his three sons, George Reginald Meekins Jr. of Atlanta, Reginald Simpson and Ronald Simpson, both of Churchill, Tenn.; his two daughters, Rhonda Simpson of Churchill and Christie George of Atlanta; his brother, John Samuel Meekins of Vicksburg; his sisters, Magnoria Meekins Smothers of Atlanta and Ruth Meekins Lowe of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 24, in the Chapel of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Casey D. Fisher officiating.

Interment will follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 23, at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m.
