Claude William Bagby Sr.

Claude William Bagby Sr. passed away Friday, June 2, 2017, surrounded by his children in Vicksburg. He was 89.

He was born Sept. 11, 1927, to James and Hazel Bagby in Vicksburg.

After graduating Carr Central High School he went on to join the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country from 1946–1952 as a gunnery sergeant.  Upon his return to his hometown he began his career at Marathon Letourneau, where he eventually retired as production manager after 40 years.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor Marshall Bagby; his brother, James E. Bagby; his sister, Dena Bagby Miller; his daughter Nancy Bagby Smith; and his granddaughter, Laina Bagby.

He is survived by his sons, Claude W. Bagby Jr. (Sue) of Vicksburg; Gregory Alan Bagby (Scat) of Bay City, Texas; his daughter, Lib Bagby of Vicksburg; seven granddaughters; one grandson; five great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters; and his sister, Hazel Bagby Ables.

Visitation will be 9 to 11a.m., n Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Riles Funeral Home with services to follow.   Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Wes Hearon, Michael Marshall, Alan Bagby, Carey Bagby, Chris Foster, David Foster, and Jack Shelton.
