Flaggs, Mayfield and sports complex win; South Ward too close to call

With all of the voting precincts reporting, Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs has won re-election. So to has North Ward Alderman Michael Mayfield. But, it may be a little bit before a winner can be declared in the race for South Ward Alderman.

Flaggs won his race easily, while Mayfield faced a tough challenge by Troy Kimble.

As for the South Ward race, with all precincts reporting, challenger Alex Monsour leads by just eight votes. But, the absentee votes have yet to be counted.

As for the tax referendum to fund a new sports complex in Vicksburg, more than 60 percent of Vicksburg voters voted in favor of the plan. The referendum had to receive more than 60 percent. In the end, the tax plan received 62.9 percent of the vote.
