Ethel Lee Slaughter

Ethel Lee Slaughter passed away Monday, May 29, in Austell, Ga. following a lengthy illness.  She was 77. 

She was a homemaker and member of the China Grove M. B. Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, King David and Mary Ella Hawkins Sr.; her husband, Dorsey Mayes; her son, Willie Houston; her brothers, King David Hawkins Jr. and Clarence Hawkins; and her sisters, Effie Mae Moore and Elizabeth Walker.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert Houston of Vicksburg and Bobbie Houston of Los Angeles, Calif.; eight daughters, Lorene Phelps, Mary Houston Bell, Melva Houston, Charlotte Houston, Charlene Houston, Gwendolyn Houston, all of Vicksburg, Ethel Houston of Austell and Gail Houston of Rowlett, Texas; 25 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and others.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 10, in the Greater Grove Street M. B. Church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Casey D Fisher officiating.

Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery with W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home in charge.

Visitation will be Friday in the Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m.
