Norma Geraldine Lyle Head

Norma Geraldine Lyle Head, formerly of Jackson, died June 6, 2017, at her home in Katy, Texas with her husband of 67 years, John William Head, by her side.  She was just shy of her 88th birthday. 

She is the daughter of the late Flora Finane Lyle and the late Albert Dewey Lyle of Vicksburg.

A graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy, she made her family home in Jackson and was a devout member of St. Richard Catholic Church and active member of the Catholic Women’s Auxiliary and St. Dominic Hospital Auxiliary for many years serving in a variety of official capacities.  She loved flowers and garden club activities.  She was an excellent tennis player, winning many tournaments and avidly following the sport after retirement from active participation.  She loved watching and attending tournament play here and abroad, including Wimbledon and The French Open.  Along with her husband, she was a strong and generous supporter of Mississippi State University and all Bulldog sports, especially football.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Kathy (Pete) McMurry, Ph.D. of Tupelo and Susan Hendrix of Katy; three granddaughters, Sadie (Brian) Aycock Krawczyk of Monroe, La., Amanda (Ben) Hendrix Jacobi of Richmond, Texas and Stacie (Tim) McMurry Hutchison of Roswell, Ga.; and seven great-grandchildren, Eden, Jolie, Ben, Jakin, Madeline, Wells and Graeme.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Joe Hendrix; and her beloved dachshund, “Pixie.”

The family is thankful for her many close friends and especially grateful to long time caregiver, Elenora Ransom of Jackson and for caregivers at Larry’s Lakehouse in Katy.   

Services will be Monday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at Riles Funeral Home Chapel.           

Fr. Patrick Curley will be officiating.
