Miss Mississippi Golf Tournament

The inaugural Miss Mississippi Golf Tournament will be held Friday, June 23 at the Vicksburg Country Club, with proceeds benefitting the Miss Mississippi Scholarship Fund.

The four-person scramble will have a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Lunch will follow, as well as an opportunity to meet the 2017 Miss Mississippi contestants and reigning Miss Mississippi Laura Lee Lewis and reigning Miss America Savvy Shields.

The entry fee for the tournament is $400 per team or $100 per person. Individual golfers are welcome, and will be placed on a team. Additionally, there are opportunities for both hole and corporate sponsorships for a $100 donation.

WC youth football camp

Warren Central will host its 2017 Youth Football Camp on June 26 and 27 at the football fieldhouse and practice field. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day, with on-site registration held from 8:30 to 9 a.m. on June 26. The cost is $50 per camper, and the camp is for children ages 7-14.

The camp is non-contact, and will consist of two days of drills, techniques, and mechanics for each position in football. It will be run by the Warren Central football coaching staff.
Each participant will receive a T-Shirt and be recognized at Warren Central’s football game on Sept. 8 against Neville, La.

Summer tennis camp

The City of Vicksburg will host its annual free summer tennis throughout the summer at Halls Ferry Park. The lessons run from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. each weekday, with a junior team tennis session following from 10 a.m. to noon.

The lessons are taught by City of Vicksburg tennis director Rick Shields, and assistants Ann-Stewart Piazza, George Wilkerson and Lauren Davis. For more information, call Shields at 601-618-4757.

WC soccer camp

The Warren Central Lady Vikes Soccer Camp will be held June 26-29, at the front practice field at Warren Central High School.

The camp is for boys and girls in grades 1-6, and will run from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day. The cost is $80 per player on the day of the camp. All campers must bring shin guards, cleats and tennis shoes.

Registration is available at Hobie’s Sports and Outdoors on Pemberton Blvd.

Play 2 Wynn camp
The 15th annual Play 2 Wynn Basketball Camp will continue through Friday at Vicksburg Junior High School, from 9 a.m. to noon each day.

The camp is open to boys and girls ages 6-16. The cost is $35 per day, or $100 for the week. The camp teaches basketball fundamentals and skills. For more information, email Donna Brown-Wynn at dbrownwynn@gmail.com.
