DETROIT — Raymond L. Straughter, a Vicksburg native, died Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich.

He was 68.

He was a 1966 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School. He worked at Mercy Hospital and Westinghouse in Vicksburg before moving to Detroit, where he retired from Chrysler Motors-Jefferson Assembly with 37 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lucy Straughter; two sisters, Doris Sears and Fannie Taylor; and grandparents, Elijah Williams and Fannie Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene Straughter; three sons, Walter Keith Straughter, Stanley and Stevie Young; three daughters, Rosalind Straughter, Sharon Washington and Shela Moss; sister, Delores Straughter; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.

Services will be under the direction of O.H. Pye III Funeral Home in Detroit.
