Shooting victim identified

Vicksburg police are continuing their investigation into the Monday afternoon shooting in the parking lot of a convenience store at the corner of Cherry and Clay streets that left one man wounded in the arm, Capt. Sandra Williams said.

Mac Taylor, no age given, was wounded as he exchanged gunfire with another man in a car parked next to his. No arrests have been made.

According to police reports, Taylor went in the store, came out and got into a conversation with a man in the other car. Words were exchanged, and the man pulled a gun and started shooting at Taylor, who was able to get to his car, get his gun and return fire.

During the exchange of shots, he was wounded. He went to Merit Health River Region, where he was treated and released, Williams said.
