Accident knocks out power to hundreds

Power was out for about five hours to 1,189 Entergy customers in the Oak Ridge Road area early Friday after a car struck a power pole on Culkin Road.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said the wreck occurred about 12:46 a.m. Friday in the 3500 block of Culkin Road when a 2008 Lexus driven by a 16-year-old juvenile left the road, striking a traffic sign and the power pole. The impact from the crash knocked several lines off the pole. The wreck forced sheriff’s deputies to reroute traffic until Entergy crews were able to clear the area.

Neither the teen nor three other juveniles in the car were injured. The driver told deputies he was trying to avoid an animal crossing the road.
