Clear Creek Ladies report

On June 28, Clear Creek Ladies Golf Assocation members played an individual stroke play match. Joyce Johnson took top honors, with Emily Bonelli placing second. Charlotte Crist placed third and made the day’s only chip-in.

Clear Creek Golf Course will host the Warren County Junior Golf Championship July 10 and 11. The course in Bovina will also host a weekly junior golf camp each Wednesday in July, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $20 per person, per week.

Clear Creek will also host the Warren County Championship for players 18 and over on July 29 and 30. Play will begin at 8 a.m. each day, and the entry fee is $40 per player.

Summer tennis camp

The City of Vicksburg will host its annual free summer tennis camp throughout the summer at Halls Ferry Park. The lessons run from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. each weekday, with a junior team tennis session following from 10 a.m. to noon.

The lessons are taught by City of Vicksburg tennis director Rick Shields, and assistants Ann-Stewart Piazza, George Wilkerson and Lauren Davis. For more information, call Shields at 601-618-4757.

Braves tryout camp

The annual Atlanta Braves Tryout Camp is scheduled for July 6 at Trustmark Park in Pearl. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the tryouts at 10. The annual event is free of charge and under the direction of Area Scout Supervisor Don Thomas.

All players must be between the ages of 16 and 22 to participate and are expected to furnish their own cleats, gloves and uniforms.

USM Summer Party

The Southern Miss Alumni Association, in conjunction with USM’s Department of Athletics, will host the 34th Annual Jackson All-Star Party July 20 at the Mississippi Trade Mart in Jackson. The event will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $10 per person or $25 per family. The event will include meet-and-greet sessions with Southern Miss football coach and Vicksburg native Jay Hopson as well as selected players.

USM volleyball camps

Southern Miss will host three volleyball camps for youth and high school players on its Hattiesburg campus this summer.

The first camp is July 11-13 and is for individual high school players. The second is a team camp July 14-16, and the last is a youth camp July 17-19.

The youth camp is designed for middle school students in grades 4-8. This camp will focus on beginner volleyball skills for individuals and teams with the camp ending with a tournament.
