Valerie Ann Anderson Smithhart passed away July 2, 2017, in Vicksburg surrounded by her children and loved ones. 

Valerie was born in Brookhaven Feb. 3, 1951, to William Towns “Bill” Anderson and Helen Ann Dickerson Anderson and had two siblings, Cathy Anderson Giles and Daniel “Danny” Anderson.

She was blessed with a daughter, Vanessa Smithhart Shiers; a son, Roger Smithhart Jr.; and four beautiful grandchildren, Tori and Cody Shiers and her most recent set of blessings, Noah and Sayrah Smithhart. 

As much as she loved being a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she also loved her furry four legged babies.  Her love for her fur-babies almost matched her love for her family.

She was known for her sense of humor, her willingness to help others, her outgoing personality and the ability to never meet a stranger.  She enjoyed shopping with her daughter, face-timing with her son and her new twin grandbabies Noah and Sayrah, spending time with her fur-babies, playing Scrabble with her friends and relaxing with a good book and a Hershey chocolate bar. 

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and William Shiers; and son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Xiana Santos Smithhart; her sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Al Giles; brother, Danny Anderson; nephew, Brandon ‘Brad’ Giles; grandchildren Tori and Cody Shiers and Noah and Sayrah Smithhart; and many loving friends.

There will be a celebration of her life at Southside Baptist Church, 95 Baptist Drive, in Vicksburg noon Saturday, July 8. 

A graveside service will be planned for a later date with family and friends.
