Guy Haywood “Mac” McAlister Jr. died July 12, 2017, at his home. He was 74.

He was born in Hinds County and had lived in Vicksburg since 1963. He retired from LeTourneau after 40 years of service.  He was a member of the LeTourneau Volunteer Fire Department, the Goldwing Road Riders Association, Hyland Masonic Lodge #113 and served on the Yokena Jeff Davis Water District.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy H. McAlister Sr. and Kizzie Nix McAlister; his son, Michael McAlister; and his brother, Lester F. McAlister.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo McAlister of Vicksburg; his sons, Scott Wilson of Biloxi and Doug Wilson (Stephanie) of Vicksburg; his daughter, Stephanie McElveen (Brian) of Magee; his eight grandchildren, Megan Roberts (Cody), Devin Millis, Avery McElveen, Shelby Wilson, Blake Wilson, Amber Wilson, Dylan McAlister and Alexis McAlister; and his great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Letourneau Volunteer Fire Department, 1720 Redbone Road, Vicksburg, MS or to your favorite charity.
