Hugh Fairman Acuff Jr. of Vicksburg passed away July 19, 2017, at Merit Health River Region. He was 73.

He was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. He was of the Baptist faith and served in 412th Theater Engineer Command for 32 years as a reservist and was also a civil engineer for the U.S. government at EDRC. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Hugh F. Acuff Sr.; and mother, Lorine Smith Acuff.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Acuff of Vicksburg; one son, Trey Acuff of Vicksburg; one daughter, Tonya Acuff of Vicksburg; one brother, Wayne (Doris) Acuff of Vicksburg; one sister, Marie (Dave) Ellison of Vicksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to take his loving caregiver Doris Washington for her devotion during this time.

Services will be Saturday, July 22, at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery in Vicksburg.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

The Rev. Doug Hughes will be conducting the service under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jake Neihaus, Roger Arnold, Bob Ellison, Jeff Ellison, Austin Muirhead, Brandon Muirhead and Keith Alexander.
