Doris Pollard was surrounded and loved by family when she passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017, after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma.

She was born in Scooba and raised in Vicksburg, and was the daughter of John Fred and Bettie Kitchens.  She received her degree in music from Northeast Louisiana University, where she met the love of her life, Charles Pollard.  The two were married December 28, 1957, and shortly thereafter moved to Columbia, La., where she was band director then choir director at Caldwell Parish High School.  The couple then moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in 1983, where Doris remained a Texas resident the rest of her life.  Consistent with her desire to help others, she helped Charles run several drug stores and health food stores where she helped minister to countless thousands of people.  She was best known for her beautiful smile, warm welcoming personality, her lovely soprano voice and her unconditional love.  Her singing filled her home and church with praise to the Lord, she always let it be known that her love, strength and joy came from Jesus Christ.  She was also an accomplished piano and trumpet player.  She poured love into everything she did and will be terribly missed by friends and family.

She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Charles Pollard; son, Charley Pollard and family (wife Anne Marie; and sons, Charley III and Grayson); and daughter, Elizabeth Bowen and family (husband John Bowen; daughters, Hannah and Angela; and son, Nathan).
