Ramp work to impact traffic in Vicksburg

The on-ramp leading from State Route 27 onto Interstate 20 eastbound in Vicksburg will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. as the Mississippi Department of Transportation makes repairs to the shoulder caused by erosion.

During the same time period, the shoulder on the on-ramp leading from U.S. Highway 61 South onto I-20 east will closed. The ramp itself will remain open though.

“There are some erosion control issues there with the shoulder sliding out,” MDOT public information officer Jason Scott said. “We are going to be making some repairs to that shoulder to stabilize it for safety reasons.”

The ramp will be open overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday before reclosing at 8 a.m. During the closure, advanced warning signs will be in place to alert motorists of the closure.

Scott said detours will be posted around closed areas.
