Flag football registration

Registration for the Vicksburg Warren Flag Football Association’s 2017 season is now open and will continue until Sept. 3. The season starts Sept. 10. The registration fee is $40 per person. For more information or to register, call James Judge at 601-415-4500.

There will also be an open registration period from Aug. 20 to 27, from 5 to 6 p.m. each day at the Vicksburg Junior High football field.

Tournament baseball tryouts

Tryouts for the Electric Shockz youth baseball team will be held Aug. 3 and Aug. 8 at Halls Ferry Park, at 6:30 p.m. each day. The tryouts are free, but players must be between the ages of 10 and 13, and not have turned 13 after May 1, 2017.

Players must have cleats, baseball pants, a hat and baseball glove to try out. For more information, call coach Jessica Massey at 601-529-4341 or contact her via Facebook.

VSO registration

Registration for the Vicksburg Soccer Organization’s fall season is now open and will continue until Aug. 18. The registration fees are $60 for the U4-6 age divisions, $80 for the U8 division, $85 for U10, and $90 for U12 and older.

Practice begins Sept. 4, and the first games are on Sept. 9. The season continues until Oct. 28. For more information or to register online, visit vsosoccer.org or email info@vsosoccer.org

Adult co-ed softball

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s adult co-ed softball league will begin Aug. 1 and continue until Sept. 15. The registration fee is $175 per team, plus an extra $10 for residents of Warren County and $20 for each resident of Sharkey, Issaquena and Claiborne counties.

There is a mandatory coaches meeting Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the City of Vicksburg’s Parks and Recreation Department office at 100 Army Navy Drive. For information, call 601-634-4514.

Fall baseball registration

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s fall baseball league will begin Aug. 7 and continue until Sept. 15. The league is for players ages 5-15, and will be split into five age groups. Coaches are needed for all teams. The registration fee is $25 per player. Registration forms are available at 601 Sports, and at the Parks and Recreation offices at 100 Army Navy Drive. Holy Trinity golf tourney

The 18th annual Church of the Holy Trinity Charity Golf Scramble is scheduled for Aug. 11 at the Vicksburg Country Club. The entry fee is $80 per person, or $320 for a four-person team.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., and the tournament starts at 1. There will be awards in each flight and door prizes. All proceeds from the tournament benefit Vicksburg Family Development Services.

Red Carpet Bowl tickets

Tickets for the 2017 Red Carpet Bowl are now on sale at locations throughout Vicksburg. Tickets are $10 in advance, or $15 at the gate, and are good for both games of the doubleheader on Aug. 18 at Warren Central’s Viking Stadium. Vicksburg will play Oxford in the first game, at 5:30 p.m., and Warren Central will play Clarksdale at 8 p.m.

Tickets will be available at 601 Sports; Michel’s Music; River Outfitters the Vicksburg Warren School District athletic office; Vicksburg High School, Vicksburg Junior High, Warren Central High School and Warren Central Junior High; or from any Red Carpet Bowl committee member.
