Warren Central’s volleyball team got one official win and two unofficial ones this weekend.

Sydney Stuart had 13 kills on 24 attacks, while Taylor Smith served seven aces and had 14 assists in a 25-15, 21-25, 25-13, 25-23 win over Madison-Ridgeland Academy in the season opener Friday night.
Layken Stockstill added five kills and 10 digs, while Stuart served three aces.

The Lady Vikes returned to the court Saturday and won all five sets of a jamboree round robin match against Vicksburg High and Florence. The jamboree matches did not count toward the teams’ records, but Warren Central coach Matt Gullett said it was a good opportunity for his team to overcome some of the usual early-season hurdles.

Warren Central will host Germantown Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

“The girls had fun, got those opening jitters out of the way, and I got to play my starters and reserve players,” Gullett said. “There’s lots of excitement for the upcoming season and we’re ready for Tuesday night at home against Germantown.”
