Wilson Jerald ‘Jerry’ Normand

Wilson Jerald “Jerry” Normand of Vicksburg died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at Merit Health River Region. He was 76.

Born Thursday, Feb. 27, 1941, in Mobile, Ala., to Wilson John and Janice Lindsay Normand. He was the husband of Glenda Howard Normand.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He came to Vicksburg in 1967 as one of the original employees of International Paper Company in Redwood and remained there for 45 years of faithful service. He was a charter member of Professional Bass Masters, avid reader and chess player and a licensed ham radio operator. He was a member of Eagle Lake Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Janice Ousley.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda H. Normand; daughter, Donna Normand Barnett (Jamie) of Courtland; David Normand (Jennifer) of Vicksburg; brothers, Mike Normand (Linnea) and Dennis Normand (Mary); sisters, Joy Norton (Jim) and Judy Wallace (Bob); grandchildren, Jamie Hardy (Kayla), Haley Hardy, Will Hardy, Marlee Barnett and Seth Barnett; and great-grandchild, Molly Grace Hardy.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Merit Health River Region of Vicksburg and especially his caregiver through his illness, Kathy Myers.

Funeral services will be at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home Thursday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Dwight Sibley officiating.

Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
