Man shot in leg walking down Bowmar

A Vicksburg man was shot and wounded in the leg as he walked along Bowmar Avenue about 10 p.m. Wednesday, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

Jess Davis Jr. told officers he was walking in the 1100 block of Bowmar when he heard a shot and noticed he had been hit in the lower leg. He was taken to Merit Health River Region, where he was treated and released.

Police have no suspects at this time and the shooting remains under investigation, Williams said.

• Four 22-inch tires with rims and a 32-inch flat screen TV were reported stolen about 3 p.m. Wednesday from a home in the 600 block of Red Bone Road.

• A High Point 9 mm handgun was reported stolen about 8 a.m. Tuesday from a 2005 Chevrolet Trail Blazer parked in the 300 block of Linda Street.

• Two auto batteries were reported stolen Monday about 1:15 p.m. from a school bus parked at Porter’s Chapel Academy 3460 Porter’s Chapel Road.

• A Yamaha 95 mini bike was reported stolen Aug. 4 about 10:45 a.m. from a storage shed at a home in the 700 block of Dabney Street.
