Robbie Strong Shorter passed away Saturday, Aug. 5, at Promise Hospital following a lengthy illness.  She was 85. 

She was a retired nurse and member of the Locust Grove M.B. Church.  She was a member of the Loving Friendship No. 20 Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Eunice Thomas Strong; husband, Willie Shorter Sr.; son, Jimmy Shorter; brothers, Dan Strong, Ike Strong, Water Strong, Melvin Strong and Earice Strong; and sisters, Abbie Strong and Annie Strong.

She is survived by her four sons, Isaac Strong of Elgin, S.C., Willie Shorter Jr., Gregory Shorter and Darryl Shorter Sr., all of Vicksburg; her daughter, Linda S. McDonald of Vicksburg; her brother, Robert Strong of Gardenia, Calif.; three sisters, Olive Strong, Agazine Strong Jones, both of Vicksburg and Eunice Turner of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and others.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 12, at Locust Grove M.B. Church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert L. Miller Sr. officiating.

Interment will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery with W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home in charge,

Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 2 to 6 p.m.
