Walter C. Cox Jr. died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017 in the Merit Health River Region Medical Center. He was 78.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mable Louise Cox of Vicksburg; his daughters, Wendy Gail (Mike) Kelly of Vicksburg, Debbie Lynette (Michael) Killen of Hattiesburg; his son, Tony (Farrah) Cox of Brandon, MS his 5 grandchildren, Chris Kelly, Kayla Kelly, Ivy Killen, Isabel Killen and David Cox. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Glassl and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. Sr. and Maggie Hagan Cox; 4 brothers, Woodrow Cox, F.J. “Dutch” Glassl, Willie McIntyre and Jack Cox; and 2 sisters, Katherine Gladwell and Georgia Richardson.

He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home with Rev. Kent Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM Tuesday until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Azlin, Chris Kelly, David Cox, Mike Kelly, Michael Killen and Wesley Cunningham.

Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Bufkin, Purvis Hoben and Robert Gladwell.
