Six injured in NRoute accident

An NRoute bus was involved in a two-car accident Monday morning injuring the driver and five of the passengers on board.

Vicksburg Police Officer Yulonda Webb said the accident occurred around 8:04 a.m. Monday when a Nissan Murano allegedly ran a stop sign at the intersection of Walnut and South streets in downtown Vicksburg and hit the NRoute bus on the driver’s side.

Webb said the NRoute bus had the right-a-way at the time of the accident.

All five passengers and the driver were transported to Merit Health River Region.

“(The passengers) complained of back and neck injuries,” Webb said.

The driver, Shelia Rimsey, was transported to River Region with upper body injuries, but was stable and expected to be released following diagnostic tests, Webb said.

The driver of the Nissan was not injured Webb said.
