Notices of sales with deep discounts on the windows of stores at The Outlets at Vicksburg have led to rumors in the community that the outlet mall is closing, but the mall’s manager said that’s not the case.

“That is not true; that is absolutely false,” said mall manager Jerry Chambers. “We’re not about to close.”

Chambers said, however, the mall’s office will only be open on weekends for the rest of the year.

“Our customer service person had left and corporate decided not to replace them until the first of the year.”

Located on South Frontage Road off East Clay Street, The Outlets at Vicksburg opened in May 1995.

The last store in the mall to close was the teen fashion outlet Rue 21 in April, which was part of a nationwide shut down of Rue 21 stores that began when the parent company filed for bankruptcy.
