Richard ‘Lefty’ Allan Barnes Sr.

Richard “Lefty” Allan Barnes Sr. of Vicksburg passed away Aug. 17, 2017, at his residence. He was 69.

Born in Chester, Pa., he lived all over the United States. He worked for Bechtel Corp., Stearns-Rogers Engineering Corp., served in the U.S. Marine Corps for six years and he also worked for the local Union 303 and was a car mechanic on the side.

He loved his nieces and nephews including, David M. (Amber) Wheelock Sr., Jennifer Barnes from Texarkana, Texas, Nathaniel Barnes from San Antonio, Texas, Zachary Barnes from Delta, La. and Kathleen Barnes from Delta.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Jacob Barnes; and mother, Doris Sallie Barnes.

He is survived by three sons, Richard Allan Barnes Jr. of Belvedere, S.C., Patrick Kelly Barnes of Belvedere and Daniel Lee of Alaska; three brothers, William Arthur (Lydia) Barnes of Vicksburg, Michael Lathan Barnes of Vicksburg and Gary Douglas Barnes of Tallulah, La.; one sister, Deborah (Tommy) Barnes Runnels of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; and four great nieces and nephews, Matthew, Codey, Lauren and William Wheelock.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
