St. Aloysius sweeps at first swim meet

The St. Aloysius swim team had a perfect start to the 2017 season.

Adrienne Eckstein and Ann Elizabeth Farthing each won two individual events and two relays, and St. Al’s girls team beat Warren Central, Vicksburg and Hartfield Academy in the Splash, Flash and Dash meet Tuesday at City Pool.

Eckstein won the 100-yard butterfly and 100 freestyle, while Farthing won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 breaststroke. Both swimmers were on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays, along with Leah Larson and Emily Cook.

St. Al’s 400-yard freestyle relay team of Sam Graves, Emma Waisner, Christina Waisner and Chandler Tucker also finished first.

St. Al beat Warren Central 51-23 in their head-to-head matchup, Vicksburg 61-9, and Hartfield 55-29.
Warren Central’s Carley Copelin won the girls’ 50- and 200-yard freestyle events, and Abi Wallace won the 100 backstroke. Vicksburg’s Julianna Juve won the 500 freestyle.

St. Al also swept the boys’ meet as Tommy Martin and Connor Clark won two events apiece.

Martin was first in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, and Clark in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Martin and Clark teamed with Adam Eckstein and Andrew Ulmer to win the 200 freestyle relay. St. Al beat Warren Central 66-35, Vicksburg 72-9, and Hartfield 53-47.
