Doris Lynn Bell Bazard

ARCHIBALD, La. — Doris Lynn Bell Bazard died April 25, 2017, at her home in Spring, Texas, near Houston, Texas. She was 87 years old.

She spent her early years in Archibald, La., and moved to Vicksburg with her parents, William Thomas “Pughsy” Bell Jr. and Jessie Lynn Bell.

She was baptized at First Presbyterian Church, attended Jett School and was valedictorian of her eighth-grade class. Doris graduated from Carr Central High School and Louisiana Tech University, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.

After graduation, she married W. Scott Bazard Jr. and settled in Houston.

Doris was a member of Northwoods Presbyterian Church and the P.E.O., Houston, and Ashmead Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Vicksburg.

Doris was predeceased by her parents and husband.

She is survived by sons, Alan Bazard (Melani) and Greg Bazard (Linda); four grandchildren, Lauren Bazard Leblanc (Dale), Austin Bazard (Megan), Morgan Bazard and Jenefier Bazard; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Leblanc and McKinley Leblanc; two brothers, William Thomas Bell III (Vivian) and Roeland Tobin Bell (Carmine) of Vicksburg.

A graveside service will be at Lynn Cemetary in Archibald, Saturday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m.
