RiverFest is getting an additional $12,000 from the city.

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen Thursday approved transferring $12,000 from South Ward Alderman Alex Monsour’s discretionary fund to Vicksburg Main Street for the city’s annual music and arts festival.

He said the $12,000 will be used to attract talent and headliners to the event.

“I thought the money could be more useful going toward that than just sitting in the account doing nothing,” he said.

The 31st annual RiverFest will be April 20-21.
